Why your brand should be on TikTok
Let’s not beat around the bush: if you’re not on TikTok yet, you’re missing out. Big time. Pretty much every brand that’s a little into social media, is on TikTok. Why? Because the platform is an incredibly powerful tool to create brand awareness. So, what are you still waiting for?
Why TikTok
Short form video has been dominating the social media landscape for a while now and TIkTok is this format’s absolute frontrunner. Having reached over 1.7 billion users in 2023 so far, the growth of the app has never been seen before. And additionally, the engagement rate from the users beats all other social media platforms.
TikTok changes the way brands communicate with their audience and the way they stimulate them to buy their products. Studies show that the impact of TikTok reaches far beyond the platform and into the real world, that it changes the current purchasing process, and it stimulates large-scale sales.
So… Huge opportunities! But we have to warn you; the app is quite peculiar and quirky. Brands have to be creative to stand out. A simple advertisement or the sponsored support of an influencer won’t impress TikTok’s tough crowd.
A lot of popular TikToks can be described as ‘unhinged’; the most common way TikTok likes to describe content that’s both chaotic, weird and hilarious. Unhinged content has a certain shock factor that makes it stand out and increases engagement. Well… If it’s done well at least.
TikTok marketing tips for brands:
-
Opt for a business account. Even though having a business account instead of a creator account means you can’t use every single sound in the TikTok sound database, there’s plenty of advantages you won’t want to miss out on. Business accounts can add links to their profile, get access to analytics and tools, can use third-party tools to schedule content and more.
-
Share ‘behind the scenes’. An incredible way to grow engagement is by making your followers think they’re part of the company or they can get exclusive sneak peeks in the office.
-
Be bold and experiment! Contrary to platforms like Facebook and LinkedIn, there’s not a lot of rules or restrictions. If you think something could be interesting or entertaining, try it! You’ll find out whether it gets any likes, comments or shares soon enough!
-
Make new content. Even though you should definitely stay true to your brand and should talk about the same things as other social platforms, don’t just copy and paste your content. Make new content for TikTok first, then think about repurposing your TikTok videos for Instagram Reels or YouTube shorts. Not the other way round.
-
Show your products… Subtly. It makes sense that you show what you’re trying to sell, but make sure you do this in a creative way. Try sharing some tutorials and how-to content. Always remember that TikTok is for entertainment in the first place.
Ready to finally take a deep dive into the world of TikTok? Need some inspiration to get started? These brand are doing it right!
